Pearson's Crystal Data Features: Perpetual restrainting

Pearson's Crystal Data offers a remarkable feature we call "perpetual restrainting": Every time you enter a selection criterion, the internal list of matching entries is updated immediately. You can watcht this in the selection criteria summary in the lower half of the selection criteria dialog or quick search dialog.

The following screen shot starts with the search for Sn in oxidation number +2 (37 matching entries):

The selection of "Sn+2" has clearly reduced the number of available elements:

Clicking on O and choosing the "Concentration of O..." command yields to the histogram of concentrations of O in context with Sn+2. We choose 50 through 70 percent:

After selection of the concentration range of 50 to 70 percent for oxygene, there will be 11 entries matching left, as the summary in the lower half of the following screen shot shows:

If you confirm the crystal system quest dialog with "OK", your resulting answer set will have exactly one single entry only.

In another example we look for distances between Fe and O, but only for Fe in octahedral coordination. So we first select atomic environment type "octahedron" and central atom "Fe", which yields to 1705 atom sites (not entries!), appearing in 1230 database entries (compounds):

With these selection criteria in mind, we switch to the interatomic distances page, select "Fe" and "O" and open the quest dialog for distances, i.e. here distances between Fe and O with Fe in octahedral coordination only:

With the additional selection criterion "distance range 0.12 through 0.25 nm", the number of available elements has reduced again, there are 900 database entries left matching the criteria:
